Bought my second Jaguar XJ6 - a 1987 Vandem Plas

- Purchase of a 1987 Jaguar XJ6 Vandem Plas Series III
This is a late posting since I bought the car back on June 14th, 2008. It is a red Vandem Plas with is the top-line XJ6 (better leather and wood, rear headrest and console seating, and the sheepskin-like floor rugs, etc).
The car had some low-power running issues but had an excellent interior and only 79k miles. It also took a while to start. The goal was that this would be my keeper while Black & Tan would be prepped for sale. I would keep Black & Tan until I fixed the new one.
Fast forward a year later and I am now really working hard to fix the new one. I still have both and am also considering converting Black & Tan to an electric car - sacrilegious in some eyes but so be it.
On initial diagnosis, I found the timing to be set at 0deg rather 17deg BTDC.
I adjusted it appropriately and the engine was more responsive but it also introduced some pinging. I changed the distributer cap and rotor, checked/replaced all vacuum lines, put in new plug and wires.
Changing the cold-start injector resolved the starting issues but the car was still definitely running rich. My progress stalled from October until March (married with children).
